I Guess Its Over I Cant Believe That Im a Fool Again
Information technology'due south the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966) is a critically-acclaimed and very popular blithe television special, based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles K. Schulz. It was the second Peanuts holiday special (and first Halloween special) to be produced and animated by Bill Meléndez. Its initial broadcast took place on October 27th, 1966.

- Linus: [writing] Dear Slap-up Pumpkin, I am looking forrard to your arrival on Halloween nighttime. I hope y'all will bring me lots of presents.
- Charlie Dark-brown: Who are y'all writing to, Linus?
- Linus: This is the time of yr to write to the Cracking Pumpkin. On Halloween night, the Slap-up Pumpkin rises out of his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children!
- Charlie Brown: You must be crazy. When are you going to end believing in something that isn't true?
- Linus: When *you lot* stop believing in that beau with a cherry-red accommodate and the white beard who goes, "Ho, ho, ho!"
- Charlie Brown: We're obviously separated by denominational differences.
- Linus: [writing] You must get discouraged considering more people believe in Santa Claus than in you. Well, permit's face it; Santa Claus has had more than publicity, but beingness #two, mayhap yous try harder.
- [Snoopy reads part of it and then begins to express mirth hysterically out of the room every bit Linus scowls at him]
- Lucy: [as Linus writes a letter to the Not bad Pumpkin] Not again! Writing a letter to a stupid pumpkin? You brand me the laughingstock of the neighborhood! All they talk nigh is my little blood brother who always writes to the Not bad Pumpkin. - Lucy: Oh, practiced grief.
- Linus: He'll come hither because I accept the near sincere pumpkin patch... ...and he respect sincerity.
- Sally: [takes off her costume] Do yous really call back he'll come?
- Linus: Tonight, the Peachy Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch... ...and flies through the air to bring toys to all the children in the earth.
- Sally: That'south a good story.
- Linus: You don't believe the story of the Great Pumpkin? I thought little girls always believed everything that was told to them. I thought fiddling girls were innocent and trusting.
- Emerge: Welcome to the 20th century.
- Lucy: Alright! One time and for all, are you coming or are yous staying? We can't waste all night!
- [The kids offset to leave; Sally stops and looks back at Linus grinning at her intently, and she somewhen runs right back to him]
- Linus: I'm glad y'all came dorsum, Sally. Nosotros'll just sit here in this pumpkin patch... ...and you'll see the Not bad Pumpkin with your own eyes.
- Emerge: If you lot try to hold my manus, I'll slug you.
- Linus: Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch... ...that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He'south got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. [the camera zooms out to reveal the entire pumpkin patch] You can look all around and there's not a sign a hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity equally far as the center tin can meet.
- [Lucy, Charlie Brown, and the kids get pull a fast one on-or-treating and become to the showtime firm]
- Kids: Trick-or-treat! Money or eats!
- Lucy: [afterward getting her bag filled] Can I take an extra piece of candy for my stupid brother? He couldn't come up with united states 'cause he's sitting in a pumpkin patch, waiting for the Swell Pumpkin. [gets her extra candy, and then the other kids get their numberless filled] It's so embarrassing to take to enquire for something actress for that blockhead Linus?
- [everyone announces what they got in their trick-or-treat handbag]
- Lucy: I got 5 pieces of candy!
- Violet: I got a chocolate bar!
- Patty: I got a quarter!
- Charlie Brown: I got a stone.
- Emerge: If anyone had told me I'd exist waiting in a pumpkin patch on Halloween nighttime, I'd accept said they were crazy.
- Linus: But think, Sally, when the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch, we'll exist in that location to run across him. [All of a sudden, at that place'due south a rustling in the grass among the pumpkins] What's that? What's that? I hear the Great Pumpkin! [The rustling grows louder]

You kept me up all night waiting for the Neat Pumpkin, and all that came was a beagle! I didn't get a risk to become out for tricks-or-treats, and it was all your fault! I'll sue! What a fool I was! I could've had candy, apples, and gum! And cookies and money and all sorts of things! Simply no! I had to listen to y'all. You blockhead. What a fool I was. Play a joke on-or-treats come up merely once a year. [Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the kids come up to them] And I miss it by sitting in a pumpkin patch with a blockhead. [angrily shakes Linus by his shirt] YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!!!
- Linus: You've heard about fury in a woman scorned, haven't you?
- Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I take.
- Linus: Well, that'due south nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks-or-treats.
- [the other children, including an angry Sally, exit the pumpkin patch and leave Linus all alone]
- Linus: Hey, aren't you gonna expect and greet the Bang-up Pumpkin, huh?! It won't be long at present! If the Great Pumpkin comes, I'll still put in a skillful word for you! - Charlie Brown: Well, some other Halloween has come up and gone.
- Linus: Aye, Charlie Chocolate-brown.
- Charlie Chocolate-brown: I don't understand information technology. I went play tricks-or-treating and all I got was a purse full of rocks. I suppose you lot spent all night in the pumpkin patch. [Linus nods] And the Bang-up Pumpkin never showed upward?
- Linus: Nope.
- Charlie Brown: Well, don't accept information technology too hard, Linus. I've done a lot of stupid things in my life, likewise.
- Linus: [furious] STUPID? What practice you mean "stupid"?! [Begins ranting every bit the terminate credits roll and Charlie Brown sighs] Just wait till adjacent twelvemonth, Charlie Brown.
